I thought it was yet another boring movie being screened in camp, but u really have to watch it all the way to the end to feel it. (The army guys will understand fully)
The movie : "Remember the Titans" (2000)
This is a true story that take place in the US in the 1970s. An African American coach just took over an American football high school team that was once coached by a white man. Despite the disputes and fights between the black and white students, the coach Herman assisted by the ex-coach Bill manage to settle the differences among them to form a racially integrated football team.
What touched me most is the part when their star player Gerry met with a car accident and was paralysed from waist down. His best friend cum teammate Julius took over the role of captain and the team won the state championship for Gerry, with a never say die spirit. Gerry's girlfriend also fulfilled her promise to him by attending the game and shook hands with Julius (in the initial part of the movie, she refused to shake hands with a black and even called Gerry crazy)
This show is especially meaningful as it teaches us that no man is an island. Everyone in a team must contribute and cooperate with one another without discriminating each other's race. (Although it could well be a propaganda before our company cohesion at Labrador park on the following day.)
