Really brief summary to what happened last week.
Monday--Wednesday
-Woke up early to go to tekong for section field camp. Practised fire movement, crossing of danger areas, quick attack, ambush and had a combat course on the last day.
-We dun slp in basha at nite, which is good, coz save the trouble. Doing sentry juz makes me wanna doze off. Changing of clothes? Neh..who needs it. We only had 4 hrs of slp per day.
-Sergeant Poh has become our "ninja man"! What's inside his magazine pouch? Yeah, it's food! Whenever we needs food, we juz ask from him!
-Someone in section 1 lot their bayonet on the 1st day but found it. But for the other guy in the mortar platoon..too bad.
-Sergeants John and Poh are my section commanders. Two of the betta ones..we seldom got tekan leh. Lol.
-My role was section 2IC aka 2nd M203 Gunner (Nice name sia). It's quite tiresome really, esp during deliberate crossing of danger areas, reporting of resources left after an attack and setting up of tripflare for an ambush. But i think i learn much more being a 2IC. It also hones my leadership and organisation skills as well as responsibility.
-Our PC went mad on the 1st nite. "Down, down, down down down down down!" Hey..we can't do push-ups that fast.
-Unlike the lousy M16 i got in BMT, my SAR21 was god-like in combat. Bang Bang BANG! It never IA-ed. I also like to play with the smoke grenades and tripflare. U juz see fire and smoke everywhere! (Maybe..i shld say USE instead of play)
-Both my sergeants have great stories to tell us. John taught us the practical stuff, Poh held "interaction periods". (like how to carry balls by buying thai soy milk!)
-We were "ambushed" by the rain at nite. But i liked it, coz it's cooling and washed away the mud on my clothes..ah.
-Was I garang on the 2nd day? I dunno why i kept proning on mud while contacted..hey, why are the rest so clean?!
-The field camp made me realize that the TES kit is juz a damn lousy device that adds weight and has no practical use besides beeping loudly non-stop when u were accidentally killed by fake arti and made u have a tortoise back that disrupts the placement of the LBV and field pack on ur back.
-It's nice to get 2gether to slp/rest as a platoon. U can see how all the sec comm interact with us. I still rmb jason running ard shouting "I have one xtra" and kenneth's ecstatic cry of getting to slp on ding jie's groundsheet followed by his agony...U're the man, sergeant ruiyang.
-My section combat course was so smooth that we had to wait for other sections to complete thier tests and overtook one pioneer section upon reaching the end. Our 1st obstacle test was god-like. It's absent of problems. The 2nd one was abit cock-up coz i dunno how i died. But hey, it's good to find ur enemies already dead when u try to flank them. And i have no questions abt the deliberate crossing of danger areas. It all comes with practice yeah.
-Taking photos at the end of the activity? That seems like an obsession of the commanders in our company. I also brought my family photo along in the helmet..coz under the OC's instructions that "failure to do so will be severely dealt with". Lol.
-My CO really has alot of stunts. We took the tonner back and alighted at rocky hill instead to fast march all the way back. My platoon even worse..had to carry a stretcher. Really admire the guy slping on it. Fxck. My arm is getting pain again.
Thursday
-We were allowed to wear admin tee with sandals for rest of the week due to "recuperation". Even had games 2dae. My section emerged as victorious champions in captain ball..due to star players like Kenneth ng, Thevandran and "shot-blocker" Ding Jie. Guan Yi, Jia Liang all done well as players and catchers while Kelvin, Ping Lon and I were mainly supporting roles. However..our frisbee sux like hell. We were booted out in the 1st round. Well, at least i shld happy as the results for these games go to the "Support Challenge", another product of the stunts well-like by my OC. (he's a nice guy though)
-Yep, we had our 2nd "nites out" for AIT. It's bedok food centre again. Our "bedok" gang increased in numbers..I juz ate the famous "cheng teng" and oyster egg and soya bean milk.
Friday
-IPPT. I was damn saddened by the fact that i missed my gold coz of 20s in 2.4km..Yeah, I improved fr last time to 10.05, but for every second that i exceeded in 2.4km, $5 was gone. At least i can take pride in my chin-ups.
-After IPPT, everyone was shag. Can't really rmb wat happened after that. Tink it's R&R. (Rifle & Room cleaning session, not rest & relaxation, mind you) It's mass PT session for us at nite. We did the most number (and longest) PT for i can rmb since entering here and did the ultimate "7 blocks". Staircases have always been my strengths. So is endurance. I have to help to order macdonald's 2nite thou i didn't order anything..(why am i always so kind? Maybe i shld turn evil) but i got to be treated lotsa fries.(I tink i'll take back my words. A good gesture deserves another in return.)
Saturday
-Went back to tekong to search for the missing bayonet, all thanx to the mortar guy. However, we manged to find it in 1 hr. Congrats for "the Legend" Poh! It's sergeant Poh who found the bayonet hanging on a tree! (And other commanders still told us to look at the floor.) Sergeant Poh has claimed another "legend" under his name (besides the legend of him outrunning 6 lightstrikes and many others. Wonder how a guy who always eats and looks so relaxed can be that fit and pro! ) It's more of sight seeing for the rest of the search, where i encountered 7-8 tekong spiders as big as your palm and crashing right into 2-3 spider webs. (But some spiders sew the most beautiful webs, some as big as ur body with arms and legs streched outwards!) I though i was crash bandicoot..kept jumping over fallen logs in the forests. Cool.
-It's a damn boring period of waiting after getting back to coy line. But we had a surprise -- "earlier" book-out (that is, in the afternoon) than expected. What can be more enjoyable than that?
