Below is a brief summary of what i did in 3 guards 1st week. Due to the strict rules governing NS men blogging, i'm not obliged to blog abt the details of our training.
Monday
-After a gruelling 45min trip which costs me $26++ from my hse to bedok camp, i entered the 3 guards unit, home of the elites. I was posted to support company. The lunch was horrible, but the dinner is ok. We did alot of admin stuff. In EI (Express Interest), i chose my original vocation again, scouts aka infantry recce trooper. Coz i tot, if i were in guards, it's either i slack all the way, or i do my best. Thus i chose the latter..and got into the elites of the elites, scouts. I saw samuel tan, my plt mate in bmtc (posted to mortar), eugene toh, my peixin pri classmate (posted to pioneer) and elton, my rv/nj sch mate (same vocation as me). The bunk was even betta than my bunk in BMT! I'm developing a liking to this place.
Tuesday
-Received my guardsmen formation patch during CO Parade. Then we were having lectures all day on SAR21. It's definitely way cooler than M16. Like a young man compared to a lao ah pek. It was complicated to handle, but it was no kick for me man. Got to noe wei guang fr nj, a guitar mate of zihao and chengliang, and darren chan, his classmate in S05 and in bowling. Why do i feel the meals here getting better?
Wednesday
-IPPT! I did even betta than when i was in BMT. A silver C+21 with 2.4km timing at 10.39..definitely a betta record than a pass and 11.01 in 2.4 where i need 1 more pull up to get silver. Yes, my shoulder joint/ deltoid muscle is still pain..but i can still do pull up man. And we had games! Street soccer in parade square! Never had so much fun in army! haha..I tink why the meals taste good here..it's the curry=]
I'm getting to like this place better.
Thursday
-Arms drill. Chicken feet. Doing chin-ups everyday has also helped in my physical fitness. We got to learn signalling! It's like using an old model hp, but besides that, there are other accessories..(Classified info) U have to carry the whole signalling equipment on ur back..almost 10kg. It was fun learning..thou someone accidentally broke a long antennae..oops. Endurance Run after that. 4km round the campus. Running never seems so easy. Really looked 4ward to future endurance runs that are over 6km. Heard that we cld run in east coast park..meaning we can see chiobus! Lol. Met the last njcian in my plt, Alvin Ong in A03 and college publications. Saw my PS (platoon sergeant) who came back fr Tekong, where they posed as enemies. He's a ranger. Heard that those soldiers who manage to capture a scouts man, 1 day off; a PS, 3 days off, a PC (platoon commander), 1 wk off. No wonder they say scouts have to keep running. haha..
Friday
-SAR21 Technical handling. Tio gan again. But not as bad as what happened in BMT. Generally, i dun mind getting scolded..coz i was very clear what to do. Not like in BMT, where i seemed lyk a blur cock. Those who got silver can skip RT (remedial training) and book out early! And we can wear CV (civilian attire) to book in nxt wk! Oh man..i love this place=)
